Square image with text: "Poor Yorick Reading Series, Self-Care. Share your poetry, fiction & creative nonfiction with featured reader Mercury-Marvin Sunderland. March 25, 7:00 pm, Microsoft Teams"

We’re continuing our monthly reading series with a virtual open mic and fireside chat! Cozy up with your favorite beverage and share your poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction. Stick around for an open discussion between readers and writers.

This event will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. Contact the Poor Yorick team for an invitation email.

This month’s theme is all about the importance of celebrating and preserving who we are. Mercury-Marvin Sunderland will join us as a featured reader.

Mercury-Marvin Sunderland (he/him) is a transgender autistic gay man from Seattle with Borderline Personality Disorder. He currently attends the Evergreen State College and works for Headline Poetry & Press. He’s been published by University of Amsterdam’s Writer’s Block, UC Riverside’s Santa Ana River Review, UC Santa Barbara’s Spectrum, and The New School’s The Inquisitive Eater. His lifelong dream is to become the most banned author in human history.

This event is brought to you by the editorial team at Poor Yorick: A Journal of Rediscovery, which is the online literary publication of Western Connecticut State University’s M.F.A. Program. The journal publishes poems, stories, essays, photo essays, and other innovative works about rediscovery, the lost and the found – what we bury, and what we dig up. The editor will be on hand at the open mic to talk submissions, too; if this sounds like your kind of publication, contact us!
